Intrepid Travelling Troupe
In 1999 a group of friends formed a charity-minded theatrical troupe in Sydney, the Intrepid Travelling Troupe (ITT), to raise funds equally for 2 organisations:
The Oncology Treatment Centre (OTC) at the Children’s Hospital, Westmead and Josephite Community Aid (JCA).
The troupe mounted their first production in 1999 and put on three performances of a melodramatic musical. They invited family and friends over one very long weekend to be entertained in a cabaret atmosphere and with the kind support of St Joseph’s School at Hunters Hill raised many thousands of dollars. Buoyed by this generous response they mounted 12 more shows over the next twenty years with the kind backing of St Joseph’s College, Riverview College, Brigidine College at St Ives and more recently Sydney Grammar Preparatory School (SGPS), St Ives – the schools provided their splendid premises as a backdrop for the ITT productions.
ITT have now raised well over a million dollars for their two charities – their last performance at SGPS St Ives (set in Egypt!) was colourful, mesmerising and very funny!
In April 2023 ITT plan to again delight our loyal and supportive audiences with their 14th production set in the Scottish Highlands.
